Information Processed When You Visit

When you request a page, technical information is necessarily transmitted between your browser, network providers, and Cloudflare. This may include your IP address, requested URL, date and time, browser and device information, response status, and security or performance information.

This information is used to deliver the website, maintain reliability, detect abuse, investigate errors, and protect the site.

Cloudflare Pages

HouseOtter is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare’s network.

Cloudflare may process technical request data as part of providing hosting, content delivery, security, and related services. Cloudflare’s handling of information is governed by its own privacy documentation.

Cloudflare Web Analytics

HouseOtter uses Cloudflare Web Analytics and Real User Monitoring to understand page performance and general site usage.

The service is configured to exclude visitor data from the European Union. Cloudflare does not inject the Web Analytics JavaScript snippet for visitors identified as being in the excluded region.

For visitors outside the excluded region, Cloudflare may collect page-view and performance information through its lightweight browser beacon. Cloudflare states that this beacon does not store data in cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB, or similar client-side storage, and that its performance collection does not fingerprint individual visitors through IP addresses, user-agent strings, or comparable identifiers.

The resulting data may include the page viewed, referrer information, browser performance measurements, Core Web Vitals, device and browser categories, and approximate geographic or traffic information presented in aggregate.

HouseOtter uses this information to identify technical problems, understand which pages are useful, and improve performance.

Cookies and Local Storage

HouseOtter does not currently use Google Analytics, Google AdSense, a newsletter system, user accounts, comments, or a cookie consent platform. It does not intentionally set analytics or advertising cookies.

Cloudflare may use strictly necessary cookies for particular security or network features if such features are activated. These cookies are controlled by Cloudflare and are used for security, traffic management, or service operation rather than behavioral advertising.

Because the current analytics configuration does not rely on optional browser storage, HouseOtter does not currently display a cookie-consent banner.

If services that require consent are added later, this Policy and the site’s consent controls will be updated before those services are activated.

HouseOtter participates in an Amazon Associates Program and may include specially formatted links to Amazon.

Amazon affiliate links on HouseOtter are ordinary external links. Merely viewing a HouseOtter page does not cause HouseOtter to set an Amazon cookie.

When you click an Amazon link, your browser leaves HouseOtter and connects to Amazon. The information transmitted may include the destination URL and affiliate identifier, the referring page depending on browser settings, your IP address, browser and device information, the date and time, and information subsequently collected by Amazon.

Amazon may use cookies or similar technologies on its own website to attribute qualifying activity to an affiliate link. Amazon’s privacy and cookie practices apply after you visit Amazon.

Email Communications

If you email HouseOtter, we receive the information you send, which may include your email address, name if provided, message content, attachments, and technical email metadata.

This information is used to review and respond to your message, prevent abuse, maintain appropriate records, and protect legal rights.

Messages are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for those purposes or to meet legal, security, or dispute-related needs. Do not send sensitive or confidential information that is unnecessary for your inquiry.

HouseOtter links to websites operated by third parties.

A standard external link normally transfers information only after you click it. Your browser may send the address of the referring page, depending on its settings.

HouseOtter does not control third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, security, or privacy practices.

Information Sharing

Information may be processed or disclosed to Cloudflare as the hosting, delivery, security, and analytics provider; to email-service providers when you contact us; to Amazon after you click an Amazon affiliate link; to professional advisers or service providers where reasonably necessary; and to authorities or other parties where required by law or necessary to protect legal rights.

HouseOtter does not sell a visitor mailing list or maintain user profiles for behavioral advertising.

International Processing

Cloudflare, Amazon, email providers, and their service providers may process information in countries other than your own.

Those providers are responsible for the safeguards and transfer mechanisms described in their respective privacy terms.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights concerning personal information, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or objection.

To make a privacy request, email contact@houseotter.co. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify the request.

You may also control or delete browser data through your browser settings and choose not to follow external affiliate links.

Children

HouseOtter is intended for a general audience and is not directed specifically to children.

We do not provide user accounts, comments, or forms designed to collect personal information from children.

Security

HouseOtter uses reasonable measures appropriate to a static informational website, including HTTPS, restricted administrative access, limited data collection, and maintained software dependencies.

No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

This Policy may be updated when the site’s services, technology, or practices change. The version published on this page is the version currently in effect.
